What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

The most valuable contribution to my TechWomen mentorship is my skills in design thinking for innovation and creativity by determining feasible projects and their executions until the MPV stage for start-ups. I also possess skills in UI/UX design and product wire frame design expertise, analytic skills using Excel, Power BI and my public speaking skills.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Data analysis and approaches and knowledge on the usage and deployment of machine learning models.
  2. Learn new tools and techniques to adopt the best practices in capacity building on coding and design thinking skills.
  3. Learn about data analytics, science and optimization methods.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Expand on a project that I’m working on in my current role at home
  • Have exposure to specialized industry techniques
  • Exposes me to new tools and platforms

Ideal Company Type

The ideal host company for my mentorship placement is a company that deals with raising startups entrepreneurs, works with UI/UX design in software development, design thinking for innovation, project management skills in IT training sector, where I can practically see how design thinking, UI/UX design and project management can contribute to making business ideas that are feasible come to reality. I prefer a corporate or a multinational company with employee size of about 50 -100 or more, so that one can relate well and gain impactful experience on best practices to completing a project life cycle. I would love to be placed in well-structured corporate company with a working force that is accommodating, friendly, compliant and goal oriented.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Committed
  2. Reliable
  3. Goal-oriented

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

My chosen career and professional path are to equip women and the younger generations with digital, coding, entrepreneurial skills and to mentor start-ups for the purpose of ensuring digital inclusivity and transformation in Sierra Leone. The TechWomen mentorship program will help me achieve my professional goals by exposing me to successful start-up strategies, entrepreneurial skills, knowledge on deploying best practices in project management and its execution, guide to lasting connections with global women leaders and network with other like-minded professionals in my fields, making me an excellent leader, a role model and a mentor. Also, I hope to acquire the technical expertise needed for STEM methodology implementation.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I would leverage the experienced gained from the TechWomen program to introduce the best practices to Orange Digital Center, Sierra Leone and the country overall, to place the right actions in place on how to train more women in remote provinces. I aim to utilize the experiences gained through many different programs: create sustainable job opportunities for the youths after training, organize a women's forum where team building skills will be taught, serve as a mentor and advocate for socioeconomic financial inclusion for women in business to raise women entrepreneurs, conduct workshop and hold seminars at high schools to attract girls to the STEM fields. Overall, I hope to educate the community of teenage girls who have dropped out of high school and provide them with digital and entrepreneurial skills to benefit them towards their future aspirations.
