I want to make a difference in my world.
What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?
As a researcher, my most valuable contribution to the TechWomen mentorship will be to bring innovations and translate discoveries to problem-solving and addressing issues that may arise. I am a socially and culturally adaptable person, always willing to learn and work in a team and I also readily take corrections. These and many other abilities may be worth emulating by my mentor, including those at my host company.
The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship
- How to write for a highly competitive research grant.
- Using modern technology for data analysis.
- Building leadership skills.
Mentorship Characteristic
- Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
- Focus on technical skills building
- Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company
- Exposes me to new tools and platforms
Ideal Company Type
I'm a dedicated, result-oriented individual passionate about motivating and working in teams to meet objectives within specified timelines. My professional and academic experiences have been guided by a general vision of improved utilization of current research evidence and applied epidemiological and community-based approaches to increase the rendition of health knowledge and reduce the incidence of health inequalities. I seek opportunities to share my passion for improving learning and contributing to research that promotes sustainable development. I desire to set up Research Consortium to serve as a platform for mentoring women in my country on Translational Research.
What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?
- Focused
- Staunch
- Pliable
What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
My dream has always been to collaborate with a U.S. based mentor to improve my career and professional path because the United States is known as the world's icon for excellence in all areas. I have never been privileged to pursue education in any part of the world except in my home country, a developing and low-income country. I will gain the skills and hands-on practicums through this mentorship program and hope to find Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunities that may cross my path during networking that I did not experience during my studies.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
Upon returning to my home country after participating in the TechWomen program, the skills I've acquired will be imparted to my undergrad and postgrad students during lectures and the supervision of their research projects. I also desire to set up Research Consortium that may serve as a platform for mentoring women and girls in my country on Translational Research and Emerging Leaders.
