What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I am happily willing to help with any tasks that my mentor may assign for me and I shall have no difficulties as I am a fast learner. I would love to conduct an introductory session to my mentors and host company's team about Masarat, the company I work in, which is a great chance to learn about Libyan companies' culture. Lastly, networking, and how much I am willing to stay connected to my mentors and teammates, I would love to be the focal point for any possible future collaboration that may involve both my company and the host company.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Gain broader perspective of different managerial career paths to women in tech companies and what is possible for me to pursue back home.
  2. Get acquainted and closely monitor how commercial management in tech and fintech companies work.
  3. Enhance my interpersonal skills such as negotiation tactics, resolving team conflicts, improve my leadership skills and learn how to increase self-resilience.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Have exposure to the company culture
  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Have exposure to basic industry techniques
  • Gets me involved in day-to-day activities of the mentor and partnering company.

Ideal Company Type

As I recently shifted my career to technology and at a stage that I consider myself 'fresh' in the field, everything I will learn, hear, observe and experience would be of a great value to my professional growth. Moreover, as a person enthusiastic about both technologies which is a fun, exciting field to work in, ever changing and evolving and as a passionate blogger, I'm fine being hosted in either a Fintech company or a social media company, precisely within the commercial management team to get a hands-on experience of how business, marketing and sales are done in the U.S.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Ambitious
  2. Attentive
  3. Cheerful

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

I hope that all the lessons learned from my Techwomen mentor will make me feel empowered to take on a more leadership position and earn my spot as a decision maker within higher managerial levels. Also I hope it will enhance my interpersonal skills, such as time management, to better prioritize urgent and non-urgent tasks, sharpen my problem-solving skills and excel in my negotiating skills to get the better offer for my company. Through this program I hope it will boost my assertiveness during brainstorming sessions and decision-making meetings, which will make me confident to take a proactive role in my company.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I aim to plan a workshop for my company's marketing staff about financial services, integrating soft skills in marketing and to help them keep pace with this fast-moving sector and contribute effectively to increase sales. Moreover, my company is revolutionizing the financial industry from cash to non-cash which requires adaptation from marketing and service design team and acquires lots of change. I am hoping to be a big part of after completing the TechWomen program, also in cooperation with training centers and youth CSOs, I will conduct sessions and workshops as a volunteer to showcase all I have learnt in weekly or monthly setting if possible.
