What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?
Doing more or less competitive research in a context of limited resources helped me to develop qualities such as adapting to available resources, pooling available resources to contribute to a group effort and also to develop positive future-mindedness. My mentors and the people at my host company could mainly benefit from these qualities.
The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship
- How to build and grow team of common research interest that will implement research finding and impact direct social environment.
- Communicating, exchanging with policymakers, stakeholders about scientific research output.
- Network, establishing multidisciplinary collaboration between physicians, scientists and engineers.
Mentorship Characteristic
- Participate in a skills-building course, either provided by my mentor’s company or identify a free resource online
- Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
- Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company
- Gets me involved in day-to-day activities of the mentor and partnering company.
Ideal Company Type
My desired company might involve activities with high microscopy techniques or molecular biology techniques and might also provide a multidisciplinary platform around infectious disease.
What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?
- Creative
- Optimist
- Loyal
What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
I will be put in contact with people who have succeeded in what I want to do. Having such role models will open the way for me to do such without trial and error. As a proverb say that iron sharpens iron, I will learn from their success what they have done that worked to adapt it to my context and even learn from the mistakes they have turned into assets.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
To make the most of the experience gained from the TechWomen program I will perpetuate this acquired practice from social and extra-academic activities. I will organize seminars and workshops on themes related to the importance of the fight against poverty for the prevention of infectious diseases of poverty. I plan to organize emulation events within targeted institutions. I will create and set up a women's cooperative that will recruit women who are involved in science using digital.
