Haneen Salameh

What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

My most valuable contribution would be my keen attention to detail and unwavering professionalism. Moreover, I will promote a culture of professionalism, emphasizing effective communication and time management. By exemplifying these qualities, I aim to inspire my mentor and colleagues to uphold the highest standards in their work, fostering a productive and cohesive environment that brings forth amazing results.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Improve team and leadership skills.
  2. Take my analysis UX skills to the next level by journey mapping how people think and are going to use the product.
  3. Networking and building a community of people in the industry.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Participate in a skills-building course, either provided by my mentor’s company or identify a free resource online
  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company
  • Gets me involved in day-to-day activities of the mentor and partnering company.

Ideal Company Type

I worked on creating my own career path, because I knew I couldn't do programming for the rest of my life. I was so happy when I discovered UX design as I have spent the last 10 years learning UX by myself by looking at materials online and researching it further. I'm so proud to say that this is my 6th year doing UX as a full-time job. My learning path has not yet ended, I still have a lot yet to learn. Through this program, I am keen to learn more and expand my knowledge and skills in UX and soft skills.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Analytical
  2. Energetic
  3. Honest

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

Collaborating with a U.S. based mentor in the thriving IT field holds great potential for my career and professional growth. The USA's robust IT industry offers a wealth of opportunities to learn from experts and engage with a vibrant community of professionals. Through this collaboration, I aspire to gain valuable insights, industry knowledge and guidance that will accelerate my professional development. The mentor's experience in the USA's IT field will provide me with a broader perspective, expose me to new trends and practices and equip me with the skills and network necessary to excel in this dynamic industry.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I plan on taking full advantage of my time in the TechWomen program in order to be able to make an impact in my country and community. One idea that I have is to create a community of women who are interested in the IT world but aren't fully capable of branching out into the professional sector just yet. I aim to introduce them to the world of UX and slowly build their knowledge in the field in order for them to be self-sufficient enough to start looking for opportunities in the tech world.
