Why settle for the ordinary when you can get extraordinary, I seek Everest, where there is the least ordinary, I was not created in vain, there is a purpose to my existence, I live to accomplish what is intended for me, which is to help others despite every obstacle and no matter who they are.

Nassima Guebroudj

What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I am positive, ambitious and flexible. I don't see myself perfect. I know my potential and I appreciate the potential of others and I believe in growth comes with hard work and not creating an excuse. Working as a community pharmacist taught me good communication skills as well as compassion by caring for others. I think the best way to help someone starts with understanding what they are going through mentally and physically. I am good at handling challenging situations and working under pressure and I hope to be able to transmit these qualities to my peers and mentors.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. How medications are manufactured from preclinical trials till the final product.
  2. Learn the strategies for research, technological development and innovation in pharmaceutical industry.
  3. Basic and latest technologies in drug development.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Have exposure to the company culture
  • Participate in a skills-building course, either provided by my mentor’s company or identify a free resource online
  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Focus on technical skills building

Ideal Company Type

I spent six years working as a community pharmacist, but my passion has always been to explore and participate in the creation and study of new medicines and to work in a research project. My ideal company will allow me to pursue this interest, develop my skills in this field and bring me closer to achieve my childhood dream of becoming a researcher. I want to work with a company open to cultural diversity, values individuals and can learn from each other together. Additionally, I would love to work on a team that support me and put their confidence in my skills.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Ambitious
  2. Curious
  3. Creative

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

The TechWomen mentorship will provide me the chance of working alongside the brightest people in the field of biotechnology and will help me focus on my career pathway in research and innovation. I am excited to have the ability to be exposed to specialized industry techniques and learning the operating protocols of the highly sensitive equipment. This program will be held in a company of biotechnological research and I feel thrilled about being a part of a team even for a short time. I especially want to focus on how drugs are developed or tested and which important steps are carried out leading to manufacturing.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I am continually working with pharmaceutical interns and assistants in order to meet various goals. After the program, I would like to transfer this unforgettable experience to them. I aim to utilize what I will learn from both mentors and other leaders to be more engaged in scientific research by applying to research and drug manufacturing companies in Algeria, with the hope of enhancing the biotechnology scene back home. By then, I'll have a master's degree in biotechnology that will allow me to have my own research lab and make a larger impact.
