What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I'm a South African software engineer and entrepreneur passionate about tech education and open collaboration. I have solid technical skills, experience leading a software team and running a small business. Through co-founding EaziCode, I've worked to make coding accessible to underrepresented youth. I've also shared content that has reached people from different parts of the world, which has helped me learn about diverse perspectives. I hope to contribute practical insights from my experience while learning from mentors and peers to grow and support comprehensive tech communities.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Scaling tech education programs for greater impact.
  2. Best practices in software architecture and development.
  3. Public speaking and team leadership.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Focus on technical skills building
  • Expand on a project that I’m working on in my current role at home
  • Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company
  • Gets me involved in day-to-day activities of the mentor and partnering company.

Ideal Company Type

My ideal mentor works within the technology or education technology sector, ideally at a company that values innovation, variety and positive change. The company would be medium to large-sized, with a collaborative and comprehensive culture that encourages continuous learning and mentorship. I'm looking for someone experienced in leading technical teams and working in a technical role.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Reliable
  2. Driven
  3. Passionate

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

The 15-day mentorship with a U.S.-based mentor will help me to advance my leadership skills, help me gain technical skills and provide innovative approaches in tech education. This experience will help me develop new skills in scaling education programs and managing technical teams. Additionally, connecting with a mentor from a different market will expose me to new perspectives and opportunities which will help to broaden my network and identify strategies to create a more comprehensive tech community. Ultimately, this mentorship will accelerate my growth as a leader and empower me to create greater change through technology and education.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

After participating in the TechWomen program, my focus will be on expanding access to technology education, encouraging entrepreneurship and inspiring young people to pursue careers in tech. I would work with networks I've built through TechWomen to see how we can reach more communities and which organizations we can reach out to in order to make our programs more impactful while remaining sustainable. I would also use my platform as a content creator to share my TechWomen experience and what I've learned. By creating authentic and motivational content, I hope to show others what's possible in tech and entrepreneurship.
