Alaa Ragab Hani

What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I hope to contribute a unique blend of clinical, research and technological insight grounded in my experience leading healthcare AI integration. I bring a frontline understanding of how to implement innovation in resource-limited settings, as well as a strategic mindset shaped by national-scale healthcare projects. Through knowledge exchange, I aim to offer cultural perspectives from Egypt's rapidly evolving medical landscape and foster meaningful dialogue on global equity in tech and healthcare. I'm also excited to share my experience mentoring women in medicine and technology, helping to empower others in the TechWomen network.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. How to design AI solutions in diagnostic radiology.
  2. Hone strategic project management skills and how to communicate project vision across clinical and technical teams.
  3. Gain exposure to managing a hospital or academic center AI unit and understanding its operations.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Visit an office or attend a site-visit
  • Participate in a skills-building course, either provided by my mentor’s company or identify a free resource online
  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Present my current work to professionals in my industry
  • Expand on a project that I’m working on in my current role at home
  • Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company

Ideal Company Type

My ideal mentor is passionate about mentoring and creating collaborative research, who works in an academic medical university, a hospital innovation center, or a healthcare tech company with focus on applied clinical radiological AI solutions. They are experienced in deploying AI modules, leading interdisciplinary teams, and bridging the gap between research and clinical implementation. I value a mentor who would be willing not only to mentor me through the 15 days, but also establish a life-long bond in which we can create a collaborative environment with continuous learning.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Hard-working
  2. Passionate
  3. Resilient

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

The mentorship will provide a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into how AI-driven healthcare innovation is structured, managed and scaled in U.S. institutions. I hope to deepen my understanding of integrating AI into clinical and research environments, explore strategies for leading interdisciplinary teams, and learn best practices for operationalizing AI units in the public health sector. This experience will help me strengthen my leadership at the Egyptian Ministry of Health, build global collaborations, and design scalable solutions that advance diagnostics, cancer screening and equitable access to AI-powered healthcare across underserved communities.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

TechWomen isn't just a program but a doorway to many future opportunities and collaborations. Following TechWomen, I will have a better view on how a working AI unit is deployed, and this will help me enhance my unit in General Department of Radiology at Egypt's public health sector to empower radiologists and researchers to co-develop diagnostic tools tailored to regional needs. I'll initiate workshops to explain AI for physicians and build a sustainable mentorship, especially for women in medical tech. I aim to transform healthcare delivery and position Egypt as a regional leader in applied medical AI.
