Becoming the mentor I once needed.

Samira Almegrisi

What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I hope to contribute to the mentorship through honest exchange, sharing both my professional journey and the lessons I've learned overcoming self-doubt. I've led teams and managed large-scale projects even in moments when I wasn't fully confident, and I want to help others see that strength doesn't mean perfection. I'm also eager to share tools, resources and perspectives that helped me grow. For mentors, I hope my story offers a fresh cultural lens and a reminder of the impact of mentorship itself. I believe authentic exchange can be inspiring in both directions and create meaningful, lasting connections.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Leadership in technology project management.
  2. Public speaking and team leadership.
  3. Exploring database management and administration.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Attend company-wide meetings and/or team meetings
  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Focus on technical skills building
  • Exposes me to new tools and platforms

Ideal Company Type

For my ideal mentor, I would value someone from a dynamic, innovative technology company that emphasizes collaboration, growth and learning. A mentor from a company focused on financial services, telecommunications or software development, particularly one with experience in leadership and technology project management, would be ideal. I'm drawn to organizations that foster a positive culture, prioritize professional development and encourage a strong work-life balance. A mentor who values mentorship, shares knowledge freely and supports continuous learning would be the best match to help me expand my skills and achieve my goals.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Resourceful
  2. Dedicated
  3. Collaborative

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

Through the 15-day mentorship, I hope to connect with a broader professional network, strengthen my leadership and team management skills, and gain strategies for learning new technical areas such as database administration and emerging programming tools. While my current role focuses on core banking and IT consulting, I want to stay involved in software development because the people I mentor are often from different tech backgrounds. Limiting myself to one niche would reduce my ability to support others, and I aim to grow in both technical and leadership areas to maximize my impact.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

After TechWomen, I am eager to share what I've learned by organizing more regular workshops for young professionals at the start of their careers. I plan to integrate new insights on leadership, team building and continuous learning into these sessions. I also aim to sharpen my skills in software development to become more qualified and versatile, allowing me to better support individuals across different areas of tech. By expanding my expertise, I can make a deeper impact and provide more relevant, effective mentorship to those entering the tech field.
