What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I hope my most valuable contribution to the TechWomen mentorship experience will be my unique perspective as a food technologist, along with my expertise in food processing and quality assurance from developing countrys persperctive. By sharing insights from my experiences in developing sustainable practices and navigating challenges in the food industry, I aims to enrich discussions and foster collaboration. Additionally, I look forward to sharing aspects of the Zimbabwean culture, enhancing the group's understanding and appreciation of diverse perspectives. My friendly nature and ability to work in teams will help facilitate knowledge exchange.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Learn applications of AI in food processing industries and laboratories to enhance product development and ensure food safety.
  2. Gain expertise in data analysis techniques, from extraction to insights, specifically for enhancing food quality and production efficiency as well as research.
  3. Enhance public speaking and team leadership skills to effectively advocate for and lead projects in food technology advancements, while also developing an appreciation for contract management, human personnel development and financial management in the context of food innovation.

My ideal mentor would be in a medium-sized food technology company or learning institution focused on innovative solutions in food processing and safety. The company should enable the mentee to appreciate AI applications in food processing. A collaborative culture that promotes continuous learning and encourages effective communication would foster my growth. The mentor should have expertise in developing AI models and data analysis techniques, training, project management as well as strong leadership skills to guide projects in food innovation, helping me to apply acquired skills in my job as a consultant.

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

This mentorship experience will enhance my innovation and project management skills by providing guidance from experienced professionals in high-tech food processing. Exposure to their expertise will allow me to learn new problem-solving methods and best practices in the industry. By collaborating on projects, I can apply these skills in real-world scenarios, fostering growth and expanding my network. Additionally, I will learn how knowledge transfer occurs throughout the mentorship, which will not only help me develop essential competencies but also open new pathways for career advancement in food technology and innovation.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

After participating in the TechWomen program, I will leverage my mentorship experience by implementing innovative practices and technologies in the food sector of my home country. By sharing the knowledge gained about AI applications and data analysis, I will advocate for improved food safety and quality standards though my standard development work. Additionally, I will integrate these insights into my teaching and learning activities, as well as my consultancy work, organizing workshops to train local professionals. This initiative will enhance local food technology practices and inspire future generations to pursue careers in STEM, driving sustainable development in the industry.
