Ngai Elizabeth

What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I hope to contribute a unique perspective shaped by leading technical teams and mentoring emerging developers in an underrepresented tech ecosystem. My experience building scalable solutions across African markets and founding TechAscend, a platform that equips young talent, especially women, with real-world skills, allows me to share practical insights on innovation in resource-constrained environments. I bring a collaborative spirit, cross-cultural empathy and a strong commitment to leadership. Through open dialogue, knowledge exchange and shared challenges, I aim to enrich the mentorship experience by offering both technical expertise and a passion for empowering communities through technology.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Learn effective team leadership strategies.
  2. Gain insights in integrating AI into team workflows.
  3. Learn about building secure, scalable software architectures.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Expand on a project that I’m working on in my current role at home
  • Exposes me to new tools and platforms
  • Gets me involved in day-to-day activities of the mentor and partnering company.

Ideal Company Type

My ideal mentor would come from an innovative, mid-to-large-sized technology company in the software, regulatory or fintech sector, focused on agile methodologies, AI-driven workflows and secure, scalable systems. The organization's culture should emphasize mentorship, continuous learning and professional growth. Such mentorship would greatly support my current role as product delivery manager, enhancing my leadership, team management and technical decision-making capabilities. Additionally, I am eager to explore partnerships with companies open to outsourcing projects, which I can channel to the talents I am nurturing through TechAscend, my initiative focused on developing tech talent through structured mentorship and practical training opportunities in Cameroon.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Resilient
  2. Innovative
  3. Empathetic

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

The 15-day mentorship will expose me to global best practices in team leadership, AI integration and software architecture. By working closely with a U.S.-based mentor, I hope to refine my management style, learn strategies for building high-performing teams, and explore how AI can enhance productivity and mentorship. This experience will directly support my role at DME Systems and help scale TechAscend by equipping me with the skills and insights needed to train and empower more tech talent in Cameroon, ultimately bridging local expertise with global opportunities.
