What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I believe that one of the most valuable strength points that TechWomen program offers is to gather women from different regions, traditions and dreams in one spot. This variety enriches participants through the exchange and sharing of knowledge, experience and perspectives. As a Palestinian woman shaped by years of struggle and resilience, my most valuable contribution would be helping other women – mainly in underserved areas- to never give up and pursue their dreams despite facing struggles and challenges.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Gain insights into the implementation of nano-chemistry and material science in research and education, even with limited resources.
  2. Build a wider professional network and strengthen international collaboration in related fields.
  3. Learn about the effective use of AI tools in research and education.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Participate in a skills-building course, either provided by my mentor’s company or identify a free resource online
  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company
  • Exposes me to new tools and platforms
  • Gets me involved in day-to-day activities of the mentor and partnering company.

Ideal Company Type

As a chemist and researcher with an academic background, an ideal match for me would work at a research institute or university. My ideal mentor would mainly focus on the implementation of nanotechnology in research and education and be part of a large network of professionals, researchers, experts and entrepreneurs. They would invite me to meet members of their network, which would foster international collaborations, allow us to exchange ideas and knowledge and potentially secure new funding sources and grants. My host institution would welcome global insights and be open to anyone who is looking for a chance to grow professionally in the field.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Ambitious
  2. Committed
  3. Hard-working

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

I believe that whenever and wherever there is a chance to change and improve, one should grab it and give it a try. While a 15-day mentorship may not be a long period of time, it will make a huge impact in my career and professional development. Through trainings, workshops, guidance and new connections, I hope to build a road map to further develop my career.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

Through the TechWomen program, I aim to create meaningful change in my home country by pursuing several key initiatives. My first goal is to establish a comprehensive platform that brings together collaborators, researchers, entrepreneurs, industry leaders and decision-makers to foster innovation and knowledge sharing. I plan to use the training and mentorship I gain from TechWomen to organize workshops and training sessions that will equip students and other interested individuals with essential skills in nanotechnology. I also intend to develop a nanotechnology curriculum that emphasizes interactive models, hands-on experiments and real-world applications to enhance learning. Strengthening international collaboration is another priority for me, as I believe it will help bridge the gap between local researchers and global experts. These connections will elevate the quality and impact of our collaborative work, helping to position my home university and community on a progressive path in the field of nanotechnology.
