Becoming the leader I once needed

Mariem Boukari

What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

I bring a collaborative spirit, a strong background in environmental science and hands-on expertise in GIS and remote sensing tools. I look forward to sharing my expertise through trainings and peer learning, while also contributing to meaningful conversations on sustainability and innovation. My experience working across multidisciplinary teams in North Africa has shaped a unique perspective on problem-solving in complex contexts. I'm eager to exchange ideas, support others' growth, and I believe my adaptability, multidisciplinary background, and commitment to empowering others will make me a valuable part of the TechWomen mentorship experience.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Improve self esteem, leadership and communication skills.
  2. Improve skills in data processing and analysis.
  3. Strengthen project and team management skills.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Attend company-wide meetings and/or team meetings
  • Visit an office or attend a site-visit
  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Focus on technical skills building
  • Present my current work to professionals in my industry

Ideal Company Type

My ideal mentor is someone who leads with empathy, integrity and respect. Someone I can learn from both personally and professionally. I'm looking for a mentor who is not only technically skilled and successful in their field, but also grounded in values. Ideally, they work in a company focused on water, environmental sustainability or climate innovation, with a mission that truly benefits people and the planet. I would love to learn from a workplace culture that is collaborative and visionary, and that could inspire the future of Landshape Consulting.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Curious
  2. Ambitious
  3. Collaborative

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

I see this mentorship as a unique opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. It will help me strengthen my leadership, communication and technical skills, while gaining new perspectives on how to improve and expand my business, Landshape Consulting. I'm eager to learn how successful U.S.-based professionals approach challenges and create impact locally and globally. I hope to build more meaningful services, whether by improving what I already offer or discovering new ideas to bring home. This experience will inspire me to think bigger, lead with confidence and develop solutions that truly serve people and the planet.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

Through this experience, I hope to grow not just in knowledge, but also in how I support others by learning how to mentor through being mentored. When I return home, I'll share what I've learned with my community by organizing workshops, trainings and even by open conversations. I want to pass on the tools, skills and knowledge I gain, especially to young professionals and women working in environment and tech. My goal is to create a ripple effect, helping others grow, build meaningful careers and contribute to a more sustainable and hopeful future in Tunisia.
