Cultural Mentorships: Emerging Leaders Explore the Bay Area

October 21, 2015 By TechWomen Leave a Comment

By Edwina Dueñas, Communications Associate

Over the past three weeks, Cultural Mentors (CMs) have been facilitating a variety of events for Emerging Leaders (ELs) to help them make the most of their time in the Bay Area. With 55 CMs spread across the South Bay and San Francisco, this group of volunteers organize events in the arts, culinary excursions, networking/impact and the outdoors. In addition to their professional mentorships and action plans, ELs have been avidly exploring the Bay Area with the help of CMs. Here’s a snapshot of cultural activities ELs have participated in since arriving for #TechWomen15.

CM

  • Monterey Bay Aquarium
  • San Francisco Cable Car rides
  • Golden Gate Park/Japanese Tea Garden
  • Hardly Strictly Bluegrass music festival
  • Tours of Stanford University and UC Berkeley
  • Networking 101 workshop, featuring Jennine Heller and hosted by Mozilla
  • Campbell Culinary Crawl
  • Computer History Museum
  • Hiking along the many Bay Area trails
  • Central Asian themed potluck lunch hosted by CMs
  • 17-mile drive along the California coast
  • Women Who Code study groups
  • Silicon Valley African Film Festival
  • Fleet Week

With a volunteer day, Pitch Event at Google, Community Celebration at Automattic and a visit to Washington, DC planned in the coming days and weeks, ELs have much to look forward to. Subscribe to our blog to hear the latest from the 2015 program.
