Fellows and mentors worldwide contribute to historic 6,000+ submissions in 2024 TechWomen application cycle

With the support of fellows and mentors from every TechWomen region, the 2024 Emerging Leaders application cycle closed with a record setting 6,342 submissions, approximately 2,000 more submissions than in any previous campaign to-date.

Community outreach efforts took the form of virtual and in-person promotional events, social media live casts, blog submissions, and more. Collaborative events included those hosted by fellows Aisuluu Zhamangulova and Aisuluu Kozhomkulova (Kyrgyzstan); Basma Ibrahim Hosny, Hadil Naguib and Maryam Abuamayem (Egypt); Clara Njeru, Sally Musonye, and Sheikha Dhiyebi (Kenya); Tamadhur Almahdi and Noran Buzgaia (Libya); Manar Ouaritni and Manal Ben Mahjoub (Morocco); and Syeda Ramla Hassan, Dilkasha Taranum, and Warda Shafiq (Pakistan), who collaborated with mentors Ateka Ali and Shagufta Ahmed. Blogs for website publication were submitted by 2023 fellows Clara Njeru, Noran Buzgaia (Libya), Priscilla Okechukwu (Sierra Leone), Raghda Medhat Ali (Egypt) and Kanoatkhon Umurzokova (Uzbekistan).

Other standout efforts included a program seminar by Ahlem Benazzouz (Algeria), a three-part Instagram video series created by TechWomen and TechGirls alumna Houa Seghouani (Algeria) and a booklet, “A Sister’s Guide to Applying for the TechWomen program,” written and self-published by fellow Ebenezer Ajah Chris (Nigeria).

We thank the TechWomen community, those named and those unnamed, whose efforts contributed to the historical number of qualified candidates available for selecting the 2024 cohort of Emerging Leaders.
