What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
The mentorship will build on my experience by exposing me to experienced professionals. As the program brings emerging women leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, it will not only enhance my understanding of best practices in technology but also help me develop into a well rounded business leader through exposure to technology and science advancements beyond my current scope. Also, the value of expertise to be found among participants cannot be underestimated. This will develop my skills further as an objective thinker, a problem solver and a thought leader so as to formulate successful strategies in solving community problems.
What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen host company?
With a career spanning 12 years in financial services and telecommunications, five of which are in mobile money at Vodafone and Airtel, and having held a number of roles in strategy, operations, technology, product and business transformation, I believe my experiences will be beneficial to a host company in figuring out how to develop new products or leverage existing products to extend services in Africa.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
As senior director for financial inclusion at Visa, one particular engagement I am actively advocating for is the socioeconomic financial inclusion of women in Kenya and several other African countries. After participating in the TechWomen program, I intend to keep pushing this agenda and other relevant initiatives through the knowledge, skills, experience and networks I will have gained to ensure that citizens in Kenya and Africa at large currently excluded are included and given access to technological advancements at affordable costs.
