What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen host company?

My most valuable contribution to my TechWomen host company is to serve the company diligently with dedication, resourcefulness and exhibit high level of team spirit in my undertakings while on placement. Thereafter, I will be an advocate of their life-changing mentorship and trainings through acknowledgement of their contributions to my research work and my mentorship engagements after the program. As an aspiring solarpreneur, I hope to be a marketer of their products to the end users in my country, thereby fostering a life-long research collaboration with the host company, through my mentor(s).

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. To acquire technical and practical skills required for converting wireless signals into useful DC voltage
  2. To develop technical knowledge on modelling of solar-powered smart systems for low income earners.
  3. To develop expertise on data analysis and machine learning for application in clean energy management and sustainability

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Participate in a skills-building course, either provided by my mentor’s company or identify a free resource online
  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Present my current work to professionals in my industry
  • Expand on a project that I’m working on in my current role at home
  • Exposes me to new tools and platforms

Ideal Company Type

I am interested in a company that specializes in design and manufacture of clean energy systems with special interest in wireless energy and solar Photovoltaic systems. Exposure to the design and setting up of antenna laboratories using various software for wireless energy applications are also desirable. Design and setting of the systems algorithms for smart operations of different energy systems are also of significant interest to me. Collaboration and enlightenment on strategies that could be adopted in making wireless energy and solar systems more sustainable is another area of interest in my ideal company.

Additional Technical Skills

My over eight years experience in engineering projects management exposed me to different professionals where I recognized the importance of being an effective team player and have since been applying it in my professional engagements. I have project management skills and have undergone several trainings in project management techniques and related software applications. With a view to applying it in achieving my professional goal, I have requisite digital skill in website back-end development and currently enrolled as a Tech4Dev fellow in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Inquisitiveness
  2. Teamplayer
  3. Reliable

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

My definition of success is making a sense of career progression and giving back to the society that made me. My professional accomplishments and number of lives I impact positively are metrics for measuring my level of success. Hence, I believe the Techwomen program will enhance my leadership and professional skills, create a network of mentors and sustainable team to grow engineering ideas and forge an academic-industry relationship. In no time, I envision to have completed my doctoral degree and to have fully explored soft skills to be acquired from this program for my professional development and others.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

As a bridge-gap advocate and mentor of young girls, the program will enhance my confidence, self-esteem and networking skills, as the knowledge acquired can thereafter be transferred to other female folks within my professional circles and community at large. Facilitating and organizing technical functions are my responsibilities as the Technical Secretary of Abeokuta chapter of The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria. Hence, this is a good and existing platform to impact knowledge acquired from the program to the young girls at both secondary schools and higher institutions of learnings through career talks, workshops, mentorship programs, and public lectures.
