What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
My professional goal is to become a woman leader in the construction industry in Rwanda and in Africa as a whole. I want to gain more experience in structural engineering and in overseeing construction works. The Techwomen mentorship will give me an opportunity to meet other women working in the same field who have more experience, and I can learn from their challenges and achievements, gain their advice on how to build my career, and learn how they have overcome obstacles working in a field which is dominated by men.
What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen host company?
I am young, hardworking and full of hope, ideas, creativity, great energy and the passion to shape a better world. Therefore, I am ready to share my skills, exchange ideas and culture and work together to find solutions on different issues. I have worked on different projects in Rwanda and have done a lot of research on construction materials. Throughout this process, I overcame many challenges with many lessons learned, which I am also eager to share with my host company.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
I am part of a female mentor committee which leads a couple of programs and activities whose main goal is to encourage and inspire women in STEM and inspire those who may be interested in pursuing careers in STEM. Therefore, through opportunities such as professional development training and networking, I will build make an impact on my community by giving real thought to the values, ideas and activities I am most passionate about, in order to become the social problem solver I wish to be.
