The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Learn to use sound engineering principles to develop technologies from conceptual phase to commercialization in the water, waste and sanitation field.
  2. Learn strategies for turning scientific research into relevant technologies that can solve societal challenges.
  3. Learn to use technology to support STEM education and as a tool to bridge the education gap for learners in rural areas.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Curious
  2. Tenacious
  3. Motivated

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

I anticipate that the TechWomen program will expose me to a broader network of professional women in STEM with whom I can share experiences, challenges and opportunities. Being exposed to companies in Silicon Valley will give me insights on the culture, practices and ways of working in these companies which I can apply to my own company. I believe this will help me become more efficient in managing my business and team.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I will incorporate what I learn about technology development during TechWomen to my current waste, water and sanitation technology development projects. Doing so will help advance my research a step further, and I will involve National Diploma students in developing sustainable sanitation and waste valorization solutions. Such solutions can benefit water-scarce societies and create business opportunities for communities that experience waste, water and sanitation challenges. My ultimate goal is to see these technologies commercialized and implemented in a way that will benefit societies at large.
