What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen host company?

I believe that over the years, I have learned how to be resourceful in any environment and this has always been of great impact on my personal as well as professional life. My resourcefulness allows me to be solution-oriented in any scenario I find myself in. Additionally, my curiosity and my willingness to learn have never failed me in the pursuit of knowledge, solutions and even in fostering new relationships.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Develop expertise in leadership, project management, strategic thinking and business development
  2. Sharpen my technical skills in the domain of DevSecOps and offensive security
  3. Expand my professional network and learn how to develop my personal brand

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Focus on technical skills building
  • Present my current work to professionals in my industry
  • Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company

Ideal Company Type

My ideal company is one that focuses on cybersecurity or develops products or tools for cybersecurity, particularly offensive security, would be ideal. I'd prefer a multinational corporation with operations in several countries, including those in Africa. This will enable me to comprehend how teams can effectively collaborate, as well as how to lead culturally diverse teams. The culture of an ideal firm is one that prioritizes its personnel and products. I admire management that consistently invests in their employees' development.

  1. Resourceful
  2. Outgoing
  3. Organized

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

I will broaden my technical knowledge by studying with seasoned industry professionals through the mentorship program. In addition, I will receive crucial guidance from mentors and peers, which will broaden my horizons. I believe I will gain fresh perspectives, develop my communication skills, and obtain a larger and more global perspective as a result of this experience. Lessons learned in networking, leadership, strategic thinking, and maintaining professional networks will be extremely beneficial to my career.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I will channel all the learnings - both technical and non-technical, back into the communities in which I currently mentor. SheHacks Kenya, a community that is at the forefront of providing Kenyan women in cybersecurity an avenue to interact and exchange ideas, is where I'll focus my energies. I'll utilize all the competence, hands-on skills and soft skills gathered from industry professionals into SheHacksfor better impact-driven experiences for all current and incoming members on a professional and personal level.
