What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen host company?

I'm a flexible person, I've worked on the borders between governmental, private and civic sectors on national and international dimensions and hold diverse experience in academia; environmental consultations; oil and gas industry; and social entrepreneurship. I can perfectly fit in intellectual and multidisciplinary teams as I worked with federal and international research teams in Netherlands, Switzerland, and Vietnam; multinational industrial corporates in oil and gas firms. I see myself having a unique visioning ability and I am able to include innovations in many areas, I will bring my passion for innovations and my multi-interdisciplinary experiences to the host company.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Explore the foundation for the utilization of ICTs, remote sensing and satellite earth observations in green tech-based companies; community-based water resources monitoring/management projects; modelling of water quality; contingency response to maritime pollution incidents; integrated water resources management.
  2. Gain in-depth practical experience in leading nature-based solutions projects/ consultations for the sustainable natural resources management and restoration with much focus on water resources and climate change mitigation; adaptation; and resilience.
  3. Get inspired by the Silicon Valley's tech-based/ tech producing companies and their best practices in environmental corporate social responsibility frameworks; climate action plans to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions during their products' life cycle; circular economy approaches to tackle the alarming climate change and environmental problems and learning how to adapt their state-of- the-art technologies and sustainable practices to developing countries.

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Participate in a skills-building course, either provided by my mentor’s company or identify a free resource online
  • Focus on technical skills building
  • Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company

Ideal Company Type

A green technology-based/ technology producing large scale corporate/ company achieved the best practices in climate action plans and environmental Corporate Social Responsibility CSR strategies. I prefer companies operating globally with more than 5000 employees in an intellectual and interdisciplinary environment. A company providing strategic national & international consultations on topics related to environmental/disasters risk assessment; consultations in oil & gas industries; water quality monitoring/ management; water resources management; optimization of water usage; environmental development and sustainability; environmental systems analysis; Energy-Water-Food Nexus. Enterprises developing GIS-based & remote sensing tools/ approaches, satellite earth observations; nature-based solutions for tackling global climate change/environmental challenges.

  1. Persistent
  2. Ambitious
  3. Goal-oriented

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

Techwomen is a perfectly structured mentorship program to strengthen the emerging leaders in STEM with all the tools needed to excel in their field of expertise. Joining the program is not only about learning technical aspects - it is not a magic stick by the end - but it's about getting inspiration from the best practices in green technologies and modifying the lessons learned to enable myself to come up with innovative ideas to achieve my professional goals and allow me for more analytical thinking in tackling environmental problems in my home country and around the globe.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I am smart and I know how to make the most out of any experience. As a Techwomen alumna, I will apply the newly acquired knowledge to build a tech-based consultation to tackle the alarming environmental problems in Egypt. I am a type of a leader who leads by example, and I love to share my techwomen experience locally with other girls and women by networking through lectures, science summits, public talks, building collaborations and through my social platforms where I already have a sufficient number of female followers who will definitely benefit from sharing my experience.
