What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
My professional career objectives are two-fold. Firstly, I hope to contribute to the improvement of maternal and child healthcare in Sierra Leone by working with organizations and initiatives in that sector. Secondly, I want to promote the availability of effective pharmaceutical services and care by establishing a client-focused pharmaceutical enterprise that will provide essential resources, products, and information. TechWomen will expose me to new technologies, new ideas, skills, and other resources that I can apply on my return to shape my professional pathway. The networking opportunities TechWomen provides will connect me to many peers and mentors and serve as a rich learning experience.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
On my return to Sierra Leone from the TechWomen program, I plan to establish a community-based STEM learning and mentorship project for girls in the country. This project will establish centers that will provide facilities for out-of-school learning, technology skills training and talent discovery and development for girls, especially those from otherwise underprivileged backgrounds. The project will also involve collaboration with schools to provide career development sessions to help create positive changes in girls’ perceptions of STEM careers. My personal TechWomen experience and my connections through the TechWomen network will help make this vision a reality.
