What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?

In my eco-activism, I have organized and participated in many green initiatives and events, allowing me to gain and share experience organizing big events with minimum use of natural resources. For the past 2 years I have been running Turkmenistan's first zero-waste digital shop and I can share tips on how to start and promote a completely new, environmentally sustainable business.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. How waste is managed in the USA.
  2. Learn how to reduce carbon footprint of events.
  3. Learn about government initiatives encouraging businesses to go green (such as simplified taxation).

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Visit an office or attend a site-visit
  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Have exposure to basic industry techniques
  • Have exposure to specialized industry techniques
  • Exposes me to new tools and platforms

Ideal Company Type

My ideal company would be one of the following: an NGO that provides consultations, coaching, auditing services for business sustainability and works closely with government; a local recycling/waste management company with technical and administrative departments including marketing and promotion of their business in a market; a company with specialization in environmental-related business audits and international certifications (such as ISO).

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Responsible
  2. Punctual
  3. Detail-oriented

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

Turkmenistan is a young and developing country that currently pays high attention to global environmental problems. During my mentorship, I hope to learn more about successfully implemented green initiatives in the USA and their processes, difficulties, timespans and factors impacting timespan in order to promote similar initiatives and motivation to change within Turkmenistan. I will also become more confident in my professional path after spending 5 weeks learning from world-leading American experts.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

My idea is to organize an eco-camp or a seminar for eco-activists from different regions of my country, lasting several days, during which experts will share our knowledges and experience with each other. One day will be dedicated to exploring experiences of other countries and highlight opportunities to grow as specialist (such as by applying to programs like TechWomen). I hope to organize across multiple regions in order to inspire other women and girls to act and take part in the global transition to sustainability.
