What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

My mentorship will give me the exposure I need in my professional field of data science. I lack many skills and a network in this field, as it is an untouched area in my country. I am currently the only female data scientist, and currently also working as a data engineer, and with little or no experience, sponsorship and mentorship I struggle to make progress in my career. The TechWomen program will connect me with the right people in the right industries who will lead me in the right direction and bring data science to Sierra Leone.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

This program is heavily focused on mentorship and leadership training geared towards refining both my technical and professional skills. Upon my return, I’ll leverage my TechWomen experience in my daily work as both a data scientist and engineer, as well as a STEM mentor, by organizing more workshops and tech boot camps for girls and young women in the sciences. I’ll also establish a tech career day for primary schools, especially for girls to introduce and inspire them to pursue the STEM field. Furthermore, I’ll put my experience to good use by introducing data science to schools and universities.
