The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Gain hands-on experience and see how healthtech companies are changing the healthcare industry in Silicon Valley as a model for creating my own brand for the Pakistan healthcare industry.
  2. Meet and network with marketing gurus of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and see how they are using tech to inspire disease solutions for consumers.
  3. Improve my entrepreneurship and leadership skills, enhance my professional network, and experience American culture and cultures of the world through TechWomen emerging leaders. I'll develop and exchange ideas with women across the world, then come back and mentor my community in Pakistan.

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Team Player
  2. Self-starter
  3. Dedicated

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

Since I am part of the ever-growing Pakistan pharmaceutical industry, I think this fellowship will pave the way for me to explore new means of creating disease awareness in consumers via low-cost digital solutions. I have been active in digital advocacy, and this fellowship will help me create opportunities for integrating it into Pakistan's healthcare system. In Pakistan, non-communicable diseases are among the top 10 causes of morbidity and mortality, and it is estimated that NCDs and injuries cause 77% of age-standardized deaths in Pakistan (Lancet;2012). There remains a lot of work to be done to follow the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I am already working on two ideas related to women's health and private healthcare access to people below the poverty line in Pakistan. In looking for a smart solution to these problems, I would love to learn the experiences of women already working in their countries and find an inspiring solution that will suit the Pakistani market. I am very hopeful that this fellowship will help satiate the digital nomad in me, and that this, combined with my love for pharma, will allow me to elevate the healthcare system in Pakistan. I am hopeful, excited and geared up for it. Bring it on!
