  1. Pre-implantation genetic screening
  2. Human gametes freezing and embryo vitrification
  3. Quality Control in IVF laboratory

Ideal Company Type

I would like to spend my mentorship time in Embryology lab/IVF where I will be able to meet my objectives. I am also interested in start-ups and navigating public/private partnerships to give me insight as to how to start my own IVF clinic. A company that conducts academic research would also be of interest as this will enhance my scientific capacity in article writing and publications.

Certifications

  • LABCC100: Embryology Certification Course (American Society for Reproduction Medicine (ASRM), May to November 2018)
  • Medical Laboratory Sciences, Integrated Physiopathology (Kigali Health Institute, March 2004)

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

This mentorship will make a huge difference in my career and professional development; I hope to advance my knowledge and skills in Pre Implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) and Embryos vitrification. The PGS will contribute to the genetic profiling of oocytes prior to fertilization and embryos prior to implantation. This prenatal screening is very important not only because it enhances the rate and quality of pregnancy rate but also it minimizes conception of babies with genetic problems. Therefore I hope not only to improve my skills, but also gain new ones.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

When I return home from the TechWomen program, I will do everything in my power to share my knowledge with colleagues. I will share my experience in current networks but also form new networks. I will strive to train more Embryologists especially young ladies in the field and promote and expose them to the new precious technologies. I am interested in having my own community serving infertility clinic coupled with a patient/client-centered counseling center that is welcoming. This will restore happiness in couples and promote the fertility field in my country, and the entire Africa.
