What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

As the co-founder of a health IT firm that has developed a health information management system (HIMS) for public hospitals in Kenya, I believe that TechWomen will accord me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in a diverse symbiotic exchange. Through it, I hope to deepen my outlook to include more advanced processes and technologies and establish long-term networks with whom I can discuss common setbacks and triumphs in entrepreneurship with other women leaders in the field. Additionally, I look forward to the opportunity to work in a diverse environment and thus enhance my cross-cultural engagement skills and learn about volunteer culture in the US.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

After the experience, I will transfer the cutting-edge technology, leadership, management and operation skills I'll have gained to the advancement of my own firm, especially the HMIS product that serves low-income populations. I will make further use of the skills I will possess and networks I will establish by seeking opportunities to expand the implementation of the HMIS to other regions in Africa. The best practices in volunteering that I'll learn will assist me in furthering my current initiatives of offering IT training to young women from humble backgrounds and women teachers. In doing so, I hope to continue mobilizing fellow women in tech to join the cause in rectifying the gender imbalance in STEM fields.
