What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen host company?

My contribution for the host company would be based on sharing my experience about dental stem cells and their application in the field of regenerative medicine. In addition to that, the use of nanotechnology besides the stem cell technology, to produce efficient and effective cellular products, that can be used in therapeutic applications. Moreover, my contribution would focus on sharing my experience in flow cytometry and sorting, to share what I have learned about this technology, since I have a lot of training course on flow cytometry.

The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. How to develop my research project and translate it into clinical application
  2. How to combine more than one technology together such as: stem cell technology and nanotechnology, to generate a new therapeutic tool
  3. How to find the best collaborator to my research research

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Focus on technical skills building
  • Expand on a project that I’m working on in my current role at home
  • Exposes me to new tools and platforms

Ideal Company Type

The ideal place for my mentorship would be a research institute, that is working on stem cells and nanotechnology. Specifically, to understand the strategy that's needed to gain the benefits of using nanotechnology besides the stem cell technology. Thus, making stem cells a very promising therapeutic tool to be used in clinical applications. Moreover, R&D department would be an ideal place to visit in the host company through my fellowship, to learn more about the protocol and the procedures that are followed in respect of improving the quality of research outcome.

Certifications

  • Light Microscopy and ZEN Software- ZEISS
  • Frontiers in Stem Cells, Cancer and Reproduction
  • Multicolor flow cytometry training (BD)
  • BD FACS Jazz Cell Sorter- BD Biosciences

Additional Technical Skills

I have a good experience in flow cytometry technology; analysis and sorting. I have used different softwares that are very important for data interpretation and analysis. Moreover, I'm good at molecular techniques at gene and protein levels, such as (Transcriptomics, gene analysis, qPCR, ELISA, Immunocytochemistry).

What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

  1. Ambitious
  2. Assertive
  3. Punctual

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

I would like to take the best of this opportunity to learn how I can work with other research groups around the world, how we can share our experiences and ideas with others. This mentorship will help me to introduce myself internationally, which will be reflected positively on my professional path as female scientist. This opportunity would help me to develop my current work, opening the door into finding out new strategies that would help me to translate my research into clinical applications.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

This scholarship is a big chance for me, to improve my work, extend my knowledge, gain experience, learn more about different cultures, and be involved in a true experience, both socially and professionally. In addition to that, it would eventually help me to transfer and translate all the experiences and skills that I've gained through my fellowship to my students, colleagues and different academic/researcher communities. I am expecting a great benefit from this fellowship, as an early female scientist, to improve and achieve my goals and would help me to leave a mark in my scientific career.
