Ideal Company Type
My ideal company is one that is research-focused and does not teach me only about life sciences but also about vaccine development, pharmaceuticals, ICT and business development. In terms of size, I'd like it if the company has over a hundred staff from diverse cultural backgrounds that can enable me to interact in a truly pluralistic society and give me an international experience. Dynamics-wise, I can see myself succeeding in a company that values teamwork, hard work, innovation, curiosity and is an environment that encourages me to have fun while working.
Additional Technical Skills
Documentation; task delegation and management; social media platforms/blogging; emails and client relations; information management and electronic medical recording
What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?
What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
In collaboration with my mentor, I hope to define my professional path and how best to get there. While helping people, I also want fulfillment in my work. By actively working to incorporate feedback from my mentor, I would like to learn how to acknowledge my weaknesses and maximize my strengths to help myself gain a new perspective on my career. As a fellow woman, I also hope to become inspired by my mentor especially if I see her working among male colleagues. Additionally from my mentor's experiences and guidance, I would like to hone my own leadership skills and become a mentor myself.
What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen host company?
I aim to bring a high level of curiosity, positivity, diplomacy and team-spirit. I plan to ask thoughtful questions that can encourage creativity and intend to be very efficient in managing the company’s time and resources. I am a teachable, patient and keen listener; these skills I believe make me a good team player and also one who can handle clients and customers. Above all, I hope to be a brand ambassador of my host company back in the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (CBCHS) and Cameroon at large.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
Upon returning back to Cameroon, I will share my experiences and knowledge gained with my colleagues so we can all improve on the provision of care and services to patients in the Pathology/Oncology units in my hospital and the entire CBCHS. Having seen how companies work differently in the San Francisco Bay Area, I would be able to propose innovative solutions to some common problems. I will also scale up the activities of my NGO by challenging stereotypes about women excelling in the STEM fields, making the engagement of girls in the STEM fields one of our thematic areas and investing in their talents through mentorships so they too can excel in this field.
