The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. Learn how to create and deploy large-scale machine learning models

  3. Sharpen leadership skills for both managing teams and working in communities

Ideal Company Type

A technology company that is data driven, relies on data analytics and employs machine learning in driving business and customer insights. My ideal company could be a data analytics solutions provider to other businesses, or a direct provider to consumers of insight-driven solutions. It has an agile culture, puts people first and encourages a forever learning and innovation mindset. I would especially appreciate a company with an in-house innovation center.

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

Having experience in top technology companies will advance my career, as I would like to focus more on machine learning, innovation and research and development. My current role entails data engineering, machine learning and data analysis, but I have not yet had a chance to advance much in machine learning. Gaining that experience through my TechWomen mentorship will increase my chances for achieving technical leadership roles in top technology companies in Africa.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I currently work a lot with volunteer communities, and my experience in the TechWomen community will open up more collaboration opportunities for the future. I will be able to expand my coding charity, support more girls from marginalized communities and also support other women in technology. I intend to set up an innovation center where children from marginalized communities can learn and innovate freely. I will also take up more leadership roles in my community and mentor more girls to venture into STEM.
