The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. I would like to advance my professional skills and learn best practices for developing, testing and deploying web applications.
  2. I want to learn best practices for developing within a professional team and enhance my coaching skills.
  3. I hope to learn how to communicate and present knowledge, solutions and ideas more effectively and clearly.

Ideal Company Type

My ideal company is in the software development industry, specifically developing web applications and software tools. The company should value support and accessibility while maintaining a motivating environment. The size doesn't matter as long as everyone has access to the support they need to advance in their work. I value feeling a sense of community, and not feeling stressed and isolated in the workplace. A multicultural company would be ideal; one where I could build a worldwide network of coworkers and learn about their cultures. I would like to work with a company that places value on social responsibility, not focussing solely on profits, but which seeks to better people's lives.

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

Through my mentorship, I aspire to advance my software and web development skills to enable me to lead a more advanced career in my country and deliver higher quality work. Wi would like to enrich my store of knowledge as a computer science advocate to further prepare myself to train and teach in this field. I believe my mentorship will help me conduct my work as a community development officer and manage our training programs more efficiently by observing how leading tech companies conduct their work, invest their time, and manage their teams and projects.

What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen host company?

I have proven myself to be a self-learner and a curiosity-driven person throughout my professional and academic journey. I am very dedicated to achieving improvement in everything I do and in my performance. I will bring these skills and this attitude to all of my interactions and projects at my host company. In all of my work, and through my journey to learn programming online, I have developed the determination, problem-solving skills, and confidence to attempt what seems daunting and unfeasible by breaking the problem into smaller chunks and approaching them separately and I hope to share this strategy with those around me. To me, these skills are essential to work effectively and bring positive outcomes to leading tech companies that are shaping the future of technology and business.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

Through my experience in TechWomen, I will implement the skills I have learned to deliver higher quality work as a software/web developer which will impact and improve the standard of the field in Libya. Through my role as a community development officer, I will leverage my local network of organizations and developers along with Techwomen network to collaborate and run advanced training programs in Libya to advocate for the education of computer science and technology. This network will also support and widen the programming community in Libya and connect them to the leading world technologies and events.
