The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship

  1. To acquire knowledge and skills required for converting agricultural wastes to biogas through learning about green technology
  2. To develop mentoring skills needed for enhancing gender development and women empowerment
  3. To acquire more knowledge and skills on leadership development as an emerging leader

Mentorship Characteristic

  • Have exposure to the company culture
  • Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
  • Focus on leadership skills building
  • Focus on technical skills building
  • Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company

Ideal Company Type

The ideal host company for my mentorship placement is a company that deals with waste management and conversion/recycling in the agricultural sector, where I can practically see how wastes are being converted to energy and learn on how to apply this in agricultural waste management. I prefer a sole proprietorship or partnership type of business with few employees so that one can be able to relate well with one another. I would love to be placed in a small size company with a working force that is accommodating, disciplined, and goal oriented.

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?

The TechWomen program will have a significant impact on my professional and career path, because it will enable me to acquire knowledge and skills that are requisite for green technology. The program will build my capacity through their project-based mentorship by attaching me to a mentor at a leading technology company. My chosen track is focused on protection of the environment to reduce the effect of climate change by providing environmentally friendly technology. I will be able to contribute to the achievement of gender equality by empowering women through capacity building, especially gender friendly green technology.

After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?

I intend to leverage my experience at the TechWomen program to impact my home country through my organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) named VADI (Village Alive Development Initiative) currently operating in selected communities in Kwara, Oyo, Benue and Nasarrawa States. The acquired knowledge and skills in green technology will be transferred to women in agriculture and rural development sector through capacity building programs for women under the Village Alive Development Initiative Programme of the Institute. Deforestation will be discouraged, and afforestation will be encouraged through sensitization workshop. The environmentally friendly (biogas production) will then be introduced to the women.
