During the 2016 program, Emerging Leaders (ELs) developed action plans to address a socioeconomic challenge in their local communities. Each country cohort was paired with Impact Advisors to guide the group through the action plan process. At the Action Plan I Workshop, the the ELs identified problems in their home countries and began to build the blueprint for their action plan. The cohorts further developed their action plans, presented their ideas for feedback and learned how to pitch their plan at the Action Plan II Workshop. At Pitch Day, each of the 19 teams shed light on their community issue and presented innovative solutions based on their collective knowledge, skills and newfound resources. Judges rated each action plan based on potential for impact, sustainability and scalability. The top five teams – Cameroon, Kenya, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Tunisia – were announced at the Community Celebration and received a $2,500 seed grant to help implement their project.
Below you can find a brief description of the challenge, as well as the action plan from each of the 19 country cohorts of 2016. If you are interested in connecting with any of these groups, please email TechWomen@iie.org to facilitate discussions.
